Coaching Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
These terms apply between you and Claire Curran, trading as Claire Curran Coaching. Please read them before you book. By booking a session you confirm that you have read and accepted them.
1. About me and about coaching
I am a coach and mentor. I hold a Certificate in Counselling Skills, I am a certified DISC practitioner, and I am working towards a Diploma in Life Coaching with The Coaching Academy. I am working towards membership of the AC (Association for Coaching), and I work to their code of ethics.
Coaching is a working conversation about where you are now, what you want to be different, and what is within your control. We agree what to focus on. You decide what to do.
2. What coaching does not cover
Coaching is a different thing from therapy, counselling or psychotherapy. I do not treat mental illness, I do not diagnose, and I do not give medical, psychiatric, legal or financial advice. I will not advise you on medication or treatments.
If something comes up that needs a different kind of help, I will say so and point you towards it. If I think coaching is not the right support for you at the moment, I will tell you honestly, and we will stop or pause. I may do this at any stage, including after a consultation.
Coaching is not a crisis or emergency service. If you need urgent help, the numbers in section 16 are the right place to start.
3. Who I work with
You must be 18 or over to work with me.
Please tell me at the outset if you are currently under the care of a GP, a mental health team, a therapist or a counsellor for something that might be relevant. I may ask you to check with them before we start. I ask this so that what I offer works well alongside the support you already have.
4. Sessions
| New client consultation | 30 minutes, free of charge |
|---|---|
| Coaching session | 60 minutes, £60 |
| Format | Online by Zoom. |
| Frequency | Agreed between us. Many people book multiple future sessions, one or two weeks apart, depending on individual needs and circumsstances. |
The consultation is a conversation about what is going on and whether working together makes sense. There is no obligation to book anything afterwards and no charge for it.
5. Booking and payment
Sessions are booked through my online booking system.
Payment is due in full when you book.
I accept payment online through my website (processed by Stripe).
If a payment fails or is not fully processed, the booking will not be completed, and I may pause further bookings until it is settled.
6. Cancelling, moving or missing a session
You can move or cancel a session free of charge if you give me at least 24 hours' notice.
If you move or cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, the session is charged in full.
Missed sessions are charged in full. If you do not arrive, I will wait online for 15 minutes and try to contact you.
If you arrive late, we will use the time that is left. The session still ends at the scheduled time and is charged in full.
If I have to cancel, I will give you as much notice as I can, and offer you another time or a full refund.
7. Changes to prices
I may change my prices. If you have already booked and paid, the price you paid stands. I will give you at least four weeks' notice of a change before it affects future bookings.
8. Recording sessions
Neither of us records sessions. Please do not record a session or take a screenshot of one.
Neither of us uses AI transcription or note-taking tools in sessions. This includes apps that join the call, or run on your device, to transcribe or summarise what is said. If one joins the call, I will remove it.
9. Contact between sessions
Email is the best way to reach me at claire_lifecoach@icloud.com. I usually reply within two working days. I work business hours, Monday to Friday, and I do not monitor email outside those times.
Short practical questions between sessions are fine. Anything that needs proper attention belongs in a session.
10. Confidentiality
What you tell me stays between us, with a small number of exceptions set out in the Confidentiality Policy. The main one is that I may need to pass on information if I believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm, or if the law requires it. I will tell you if I have to do this, unless telling you would put someone at greater risk.
11. What I ask of you
Come to sessions ready to talk, somewhere you can speak freely, with a reliable internet connection.
Be honest with me, including when something is not working.
Tell me if your circumstances change in a way that affects our work.
Take responsibility for the decisions you make and the actions you take.
12. Results
Coaching depends on what you bring to it and on circumstances that neither of us controls. I will work hard for you, and I will be straight with you. I cannot guarantee a particular outcome, and I do not promise one.
13. Ending the work
You can stop at any time. Please tell me, so that we can finish properly rather than leaving it hanging. I may end the work if I believe coaching is no longer the right support, if the relationship is not working, or if my terms are not being respected. If you have paid in advance for sessions you have not had, I will refund them.
14. Liability
Nothing here limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited in law.
Beyond that, I am not responsible for the decisions you take or the actions you choose, during or after coaching. My total liability to you is limited to the fee you paid me for your last session before the claim arose.
I hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
15. If you need urgent help
Coaching is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
| Emergency | 999 |
|---|---|
| NHS 24, for urgent health advice | 111 |
| Samaritans, day or night | 116 123 |
| Breathing Space, Scotland | 0800 83 85 87 |
| Scotland's Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline | 0800 027 1234 |
| Your GP | For anything that needs medical attention |
16. Complaints
If something is wrong, please tell me. The Complaints Policy sets out how I will handle it and what to do if you are not satisfied with my response.
17. Your information
I handle your information as set out in the Privacy Policy.
18. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. If you have sessions booked, the terms you agreed at the time of booking apply to those sessions.
19. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, where I am based.
By booking a session with Claire Curran Coaching, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms.
