About me

Hello, I’m Claire.

I’m a life coach based in Scotland, where I live with my husband and daughter. I work with people who are going through something hard and want to find a way forward. That might be a difficult relationship with a parent, partner or friend. It might be a job you’ve outgrown, a big decision you keep putting off, or a feeling that life isn’t where you want it to be.

Some people come to me while they’re still in the middle of it. Others have already made a change and are working out what comes next. I work with both.

My story

I spent almost 12 years as a Police Constable, much of it in road policing, dealing with serious and fatal collisions. That work taught me how to listen without judging, and how to support people through some of the worst days of their lives.

After having my daughter, I became a driving instructor, helping people gain the confidence and freedom that comes with driving independently. Sadly, a near-fatal horse riding accident meant I had to leave that career too, teaching me first-hand about resilience, adapting to circumstances and finding a new direction when life doesn't go to plan.

I’ve also lived with difficult and unhealthy family relationships. Several years ago, that led to estrangement from members of my own family. I know how hard it is to break old patterns, and how much it takes to keep going afterwards.

After one of the darkest periods of my life, I worked with a wonderful coach. She helped me understand who I really am, what matters to me, and that I could choose how I wanted to move forward. I owe her more than I can put into words. She’s the reason I trained as a coach, and now I’d like to be that person for someone else.

I’ve been through a lot in my life. Each time, I’ve found a way to pick myself up and keep going. That resilience is something I’m proud of, and I believe anyone can build it with the right support.

Fun fact: I love music, especially rock, metal and anything from the 80s. My growing vinyl record collection is one of my most prized possessions.

Qualifications

Select each qualification to find out what it means, and how I apply it in my work.

What my experience means for you

I know what it’s like to face something hard and not know what to do next. When you tell me what’s been happening, I’ll listen without judging. You won’t have to justify your choices to me.

You decide what’s right for your life. My job is to help you work out what you want and how to get there.

We’ll focus on what happens next. We’ll look at the past where it helps, and spend most of our time on practical things. That might be how to handle a difficult conversation, how to stop second-guessing yourself, how to make a decision you’ve been putting off, or how to build a life that feels like yours.

You’ll have my full attention and a straightforward, personal way of working. Our sessions are a safe, confidential space. We’ll take time to build trust, so you feel able to be honest with me, and I can be honest with you.
